About The Role

Forest of Dean District Council is seeking a proactive and community-focused individual to join our Communities & Sustainable Economy team as a Street Warden. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a visible difference across the district by helping to create safer, cleaner and more welcoming communities. As a Street Warden, you will act as an ambassador for the Council, working closely with residents, community groups, schools and partner agencies to improve quality of life, reduce anti-social behaviour and enhance the local environment.

Reporting to the Senior Street Warden, you will patrol communities across the district, investigate local concerns and work with residents and partners to address environmental and community safety issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol designated areas and take action to address anti-social behaviour, environmental issues and community safety concerns.
  • Act as a key point of contact for residents, community groups and partner agencies, building positive and effective relationships.
  • Investigate complaints relating to anti-social behaviour, environmental crime, graffiti, hazards and animal welfare concerns.
  • Undertake enforcement activities, including issuing Fixed Penalty Notices and statutory notices in line with relevant legislation and Council policies.
  • Manage abandoned vehicle cases and carry out dog warden duties across the district.
  • Maintain accurate records, prepare evidence for enforcement actions and support emergency response activities when required.

You will need

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above), including English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience of working with the public and building positive relationships with customers and communities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal confidently and professionally with challenging situations.
  • Ability to investigate issues, assess situations and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Competent IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office, Google applications and other digital systems.

Special Conditions

  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
