We’re looking for an organised, proactive, and people‑focused individual to join our HR team. This is a varied and fast‑moving role where no two days are the same, and where your ability to balance professionalism with a personable approach will really make a difference.

You’ll provide essential support to our HR Support Advisors, with a particular focus on our Ubico contract – our waste and recycling service operating across depots in West Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. The role offers real variety and will require you to be adaptable and confident working with teams in different environments, as depot operations can vary from day to day.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, contractual changes, and leavers
  • Coordinating pre‑employment checks and preparing contracts for new starters
  • Maintaining accurate HR records
  • Supporting HR projects, audits, and continuous improvement activity
  • Providing HR administrative support, responding to queries via email and over the phone

This role is 30 hours per week, spread across Monday to Friday (6 hours per day). We offer flexibility in how these hours are worked within the 9am–5pm window; however, you’ll need to follow a regular, consistent working pattern each week.

If you enjoy working with people, thrive in a busy environment, and want to be part of a supportive HR team where you can make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.

You will need:

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above, plus A Level, NVQ Level 3, BTEC in Office/Business Administration, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience in HR administration or a similar administrative role, with a good understanding of HR processes and basic employment legislation.
  • Strong customer service skills, with clear, confident written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent organisation, accuracy, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital systems, able to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion, and work proactively as part of a team.
  • Experience working in a shared services environment and using HR information systems/applicant tracking systems (ideally Business World), including familiarity with pre‑employment checks (e.g. references, medicals, DBS, BPSS).

Special Conditions:

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes
  • BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard check)

What we can do for you:

  • Agile working allowing a mix of home and office working
  • Flexible working arrangements (depending on the role)
  • 27 days paid annual leave (pro rata if you are working part time) plus bank holidays and an extra two volunteering days off a year for you to support a charity of your choice
  • Health cash plan giving you cash back on health, dental and eye care
  • Pension scheme with a good employer contribution of up to 7% of your earnings
  • Employee Assistance Programme 24/7, providing positive, preventative and supportive advice and counselling to deal with everyday events and issues
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Salary sacrifice car lease scheme with significant tax and NI savings to be made on electric cars
  • Generous sickness cover above statutory entitlements
  • Additional income protection, covering 50% of your salary for potentially a further five years if you are unable to work due to sickness or injury
  • Life assurance, currently four times your annual salary
