On 1 April 2026, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) became one national organisation, focused on continuity today and a stronger, more connected service for tomorrow.
As part of this transformation, NSS and NES have joined to form a new organisation: Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). This new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and ensuring the long‑term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland.
About the Organisation: PSD Scotland unites expertise from NES and NSS in a way that will allow us to accelerate national programmes to support the NHS to deliver better care, now and in the future. We support staff with education and training, provide the tools and data that improve services, and run vital national functions such as procurement, logistics and blood, tissue and cell services.
The Post: As a vital part of NHSScotland, NHS National Services Scotland’s mission is to enable and support the delivery of better health and better care, working in partnership. We do this by providing a range of specialised support services that enable NHS Boards to focus their efforts on delivering health improvement and patient care. The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service is the specialist provider of transfusion medicine in Scotland, supplying high quality blood, tissues, products and services across the country. With Transfusions Centres in Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow, SNBTS work with communities, hospitals and professionals to ensure that the donor’s gift is used wisely and effectively for the benefit of patients.
The Candidate: We are seeking to appoint the Donor Recruitment and Publicity Officer (Aberdeen) to the Donor Marketing and Engagement Department. Reporting to the Donor Publicity Manager, you will be responsible for the recruitment, retention and engagement of blood donors within the Aberdeen area. You will be responsible for the day to day co‑ordination of the recruitment and publicity activity to support the Donor Relationship Management strategy and the implementation of plans that will ensure the tactical donor relationship and retention goals are met. You will communicate effectively with donors and non donors across the region in a wide variety of ways, by delivering talks, implementing local marketing plans, social media, web updates, engaging with various community groups and contacting blood donors directly via pro‑active phone calls, letters and various other forms of communication. You will make a significant contribution to achieving the strategic goals of SNBTS by delivering a world‑class blood strategy that delivers value for money and meets the transfusion needs of patients in Scotland. You will be highly motivated with strong problem solving skills. You will have excellent communication skills and will be adept at communicating with a wide variety of people on many different levels. You will be familiar with creating a wide variety of presentation materials and you will be a confident public speaker. You will be educated to degree in a relevant subject. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
