On behalf of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, we are looking for a Senior Payroll Remediation Specialist - Inside IR35 for a 3 month contract working on a Hybrid basis (3 days per week in Southampton office and remaining WFH).

Role purpose

We require a person to undertake analysis of deployment and payment data across the previous 6 years.

They will need to gather information from colleagues, use and analyse data, and calculate what payments could be made, which would be different for each person.

The person would be managed by the requestor who will oversee this work as part of the project being undertaken.

Responsibilities

  • Work with HM Coastguard, collate and data cleanse all activity pay data for the prior 6-years.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance measures for all the pay data.
  • Working with the HR Pay & Reward Lead and Government Legal Department, develop the calculation framework for payments due.

Using their payroll knowledge on aspects such as Pensions, Statutory Payments, Holiday Pay, and National Minimum Wage compliance.

  • Undertake all calculations activities related to the owed payments, developing appropriate models to cover all liabilities, including tax and NI.
  • Develop clear documentation to sit alongside the pay models to cover each liability.
  • Develop FAQs and support products to explain the calculations, including a communications channel.

Essential

  • Proven experience analysing large and complex datasets, including multi year data cleansing, validation and reconciliation.
  • Strong payroll knowledge covering pensions, statutory payments, holiday pay, National Minimum Wage compliance, tax and National Insurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, test and document calculation frameworks or financial models to determine individualised payments.
  • Experience designing and implementing quality assurance measures to ensure accuracy and compliance in payroll or financial data.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to gather information from colleagues and explain complex calculations clearly.
  • Strong ability to produce clear and comprehensive documentation, FAQs and supporting materials to accompany calculation models and member communications.
