On behalf of MCA, we are looking for a Coastal State Services Lead Inside IR35 for a 12 months contract based Hybrid with 3 days in Southampton and the rest from home.

As a Coastal State Services Lead, your main responsibilities will be:

  • To undertake a specific project called the 'Future of Navigation Project' on behalf of the MCA/Coastal State stakeholders.
  • The assessment of the UK's current and future needs, emerging navigation technologies and associated trends in international regulation.
  • Liaising with the full suite of coastal stakeholders and provide specific items of technical information and make recommendations to provide a framework for the future direction of UK coastal state services.

Essential:

  • Senior-level navigation experience, with a deep understanding of shipboard navigation systems, operational practices, and navigational risk environments.
  • Proven command experience, ideally having held responsibility for the safe operation of a vessel as Master, Commanding Officer, or equivalent senior maritime role.
  • Extensive experience with coastal state services, including knowledge of navigation services, aids to navigation, hazard-warning systems, and coastal operational requirements.
  • Experience working within or alongside UK coastal state organisations.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Master mariner STCW Master II/2 Unlimited Certificate of Competency.

Desirable:

  • Experience in regulatory settings.
  • Experience in project management.

Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas.
