On behalf of the Intellectual Property Office, we are looking for a Senior Automation Test Engineer (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based remote with occasional travel to the Newport Office. The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) is the official UK government body responsible for intellectual property (IP) rights including patents, designs, trademarks and copyright. Our ambition is to be the best IP office, and we intend to achieve this by delivering excellent IP services, creating a world leading IP environment, and making the IPO a brilliant place to work.
We operate and maintain a clear and accessible intellectual property system in the UK, which encourages innovation and helps the economy and society to benefit from knowledge and ideas. We help people get the right type of protection for their creation or invention. We are responsible for IPO Policy, educating businesses and consumers about IP rights and responsibilities, supporting IP enforcement, and granting UK patents, trademarks and design rights. We have a small office in the heart of London, but our main office is on the outskirts of Newport, South Wales.
Responsibilities
- As a Senior Automation Test Engineer, write, execute and maintain functional/non-functional automated UI and API tests/suites aligned against acceptance criteria to support our continuous deployment environment.
- Design, code, test, maintain, and document robust, scalable and reusable solutions that deliver exceptional user experience using best practice.
- Work closely with software developers to reach a common understanding of the code base and test coverage at unit level.
- Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver highly user-focused and successful digital services, ensuring governance standards are adhered to.
- Identify and manage defects, incidents, risks and issues in line with IPO standards.
- Build automated test solutions from scratch in line with the IPO Test Strategy and IPO Engineering Principles.
Essential Qualifications
- Experienced working within C# API and UI automation experience.
- Previous public sector experience.
