On behalf of the MOD DSTL, we are looking for a Senior Digital Project Manager x5 (Inside IR35) for a 24 month contract which is a hybrid role so does require up to 3 days a week in either the Salisbury or Portsmouth office locations

As a Senior Digital Project Manager for the delivery of digital projects within the Portfolio Office, you will have excellent people skills and provide leadership, enabling the team to deliver.

The ability to work with a range of stakeholders to ensure continued engagement is important and you should be comfortable working with a variety of people.

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks.

Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.

  • As a Senior Digital Project Manager, your main responsibilities will be:
  • Delivery - Create and lead the project to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints.
  • Project Management - Day to day management and leadership of the project.

Provide effective leadership and management controls.

Set project controls.

Set appropriate delivery methodologies.

Manage effective transition between project phases.

  • Business Case - Coordinate development of the Business Case.

Responsible for the production and co-ordination of the project business case(s) and review notes (where required), throughout the lifecycle of a project, therefore good writing skills are essential

  • Budget - Track delivery within budget, be responsible for the tracking and reporting of the projects forecasts and variances.
  • Resources - Schedule / manage resources to deliver the project. May work independently or with a small team.
  • Stakeholder Management - identify and manage stakeholder relationships and need for senior level support. Manage internal and external relationships as appropriate.
  • Risks & Issues - Identify and monitor project risks and issues.

Develop mitigating actions and escape as appropriate.

Identify and work with related projects to manage interdependencies.

  • Governance - Provide key reports and support effective governance and decision making.

Provide reporting and engage in mechanisms that hold you, as Project Manager, to account for delivery.

  • Assurance - Engage with assurance reviews and support action on recommendations. Organise assurance processes such as gateway reviews, as required.
  • Change Management - Ensure effective Change Management processes are in place to agree and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders.
  • Guidance & Support - Provide support, guidance and coaching for the project team. Show commitment to personal development. Promote effective individual and team performance.
  • Project Performance & Controls - Cascade vision and translate into delivery objectives for the team.

Develop and maintain Project Plan.

Identify and set appropriate Project Controls.

  • Manage performance and report progress to sponsors
  • Contract Management - Oversee the placement of contracts with strategic suppliers with strong requirements.

Manage supplier relationships, and ensure receipt of contracted deliverables to time, cost and quality.

Essential Skills

  • Extensive experience across project management delivery in a Digital led environment
  • Experience across both digital infrastructure and IT systems
  • People leadership management experience and skillset
  • Stakeholder engagement at all levels across the business
  • Excellent communication skills
  • APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) Or equivalent
  • Strong self starter with a proactive approach to all duties

Desirable Skills

  • Awareness of a range of Project methodologies, e. g. Agile; PRINCE 2
  • Commercial awareness would be highly beneficial
  • An understanding of the background, knowledge, and experience of delivering projects within the capability discipline using project management approaches, tools and techniques;
