On behalf of The Ministry of Justice, we are looking for a Security Architect (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based Hybrid in any UK MoJ Office. The Ministry of Justice is looking for an experienced Security Architect to play a key role in shaping secure services and platforms across a large, complex digital environment. This is an opportunity to influence strategy, guide senior stakeholders, and drive secure-by-design practices across multiple programmes.

As a Security Architect, you'll work with digital, engineering, delivery and security teams to identify risks, shape security architecture and ensure systems are robust, resilient, secure and scalable. You'll provide guidance across multiple projects and help to define the security vision for the organisation. You'll be working at both a strategic and technical level, advising on threats, architectural patterns, secure design and best practice while ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Enhancing the security of platforms and services by identifying, communicating and addressing cyber security risks
  • Understanding emerging vulnerabilities, threats and attacker techniques
  • Supporting delivery teams with secure design and architecture decisions
  • Influencing senior stakeholders and shaping the security vision and principles
  • Making key architectural recommendations across multiple technologies and programmes
  • Researching and validating new security technologies and approaches
  • Producing high quality documentation, guidance, and technical advice
  • Advocating for secure engineering and encouraging best practice across teams

Essential requirements

  • Strong experience as a Security Architect in large, complex or regulated environments
  • Deep knowledge of cyber security, including secure development, IAM, monitoring and detection and secure platform engineering
  • Ability to communicate security and risk clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of vulnerabilities, exploitability and their impact on system design
  • Experience challenging and improving security processes and architectural decisions
  • Familiarity with security standards and architectural practices relevant to government or regulated environments, including NCSC guidance and Official Security Classifications
  • Understanding of secure network architectures, including those comparable to the Public Services Network (PSN)
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders or operating at enterprise level
  • SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks.
