Location: North London, EN1 (Hybrid – Office attendance a couple of times per month)

Salary: Β£41,442 - Β£44,331 per annum (PO1)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Senior Finance Officer to join their expanding Corporate Accountancy Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking finance function that proactively supports the delivery of essential public services.

Reporting to the VAT Accountant, you will be responsible for a range of financial operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in financial reporting and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Completion of Monthly CIS Returns and VAT Claims, including accuracy checks, sample testing, and liaising with HMRC on VAT-related queries.
  • Monitoring and Reporting on Financial Controls, ensuring processes are robust and compliant.
  • Supporting the Completion of the Annual Statement of Accounts and associated financial processes.
  • Finance Systems Maintenance, ensuring efficiency and resilience.
  • Preparation of Government and Other Statutory Returns, meeting reporting deadlines.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations and other financial reconciliations.
  • Liaising with Internal and External Auditors, providing relevant financial information as required.

Who We Are Looking For:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant accountancy experience, particularly within local government, the wider public sector, or a not-for-profit organisation.
  • Strong experience working in a Financial Accounting Team.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with key stakeholders.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in data analysis.
  • Experience in corporate accountancy within a local government setting (highly desirable).
