Contract: Temp to Perm

Hours: Full-time - 2 days remote, 3 days in the office

Salary: PAYE: £21.45 per hour

Are you an experienced revenues professional with strong knowledge of Council Tax, debt recovery and court processes? We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Revenues Officer to support the effective collection of Council Tax and other income streams while delivering a high standard of service to our residents.

About the Role

You will play a key role in administering Council Tax accounts, recovering outstanding debts and representing the Council at Magistrates’ Court, County Court and other tribunals. Working closely with Enforcement Agents, internal teams and external partners, you will help maximise income while ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer Council Tax and other revenue accounts in line with legislation and procedures
  • Recover debts efficiently using appropriate enforcement and legal processes
  • Prepare and present cases at Magistrates’ Court, County Court and committal hearings
  • Process discounts, exemptions and reliefs with a strong focus on fraud prevention
  • Manage and monitor Enforcement Agents and external collection partners
  • Respond professionally to customer enquiries, complaints and complex cases
  • Handle insolvency, bankruptcy and charging order cases accurately
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and performance data
  • Support service improvement, mentoring and staff development

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience working in revenues, Council Tax or debt recovery
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and court procedures
  • Excellent communication skills — written, verbal and face-to-face
  • The ability to handle sensitive and complex situations professionally
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence representing the Council in legal proceedings
  • A commitment to customer care, equality and data protection
