We are currently recruiting for 8 experienced Advanced Practitioners to join a dynamic Children in Care Service in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking service that is continuing to innovate and improve outcomes for children and young people. The team supports approximately 700 children in care aged 0–18, acting as corporate parents and ensuring the best possible life chances.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality social work practice across a range of permanency planning pathways including:

  • Placement with parents
  • Long-term fostering
  • Special Guardianship Orders (SGO)
  • Adoption

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex caseloads within Children in Care
  • Undertake care proceedings from Interim Care Orders through to Final Orders
  • Complete robust parenting assessments and permanency planning
  • Produce high-quality reports for court and statutory reviews
  • Deliver meaningful direct work with children and families
  • Support young people in developing independence and preparing for adulthood

Requirements

  • A recognised Social Work qualification
  • SWE registration
  • Minimum 3+ years post-qualified experience in Children’s Social Care
  • Strong experience in:
  • Court work and care proceedings
  • Permanency planning
  • Parenting assessments
  • Excellent report writing and case recording skills
  • A child-centred approach with a genuine passion for improving outcomes
  • Working Arrangements

    • Full-time: 36.5 hours per week
    • Office-based minimum 2 days per week (team dependent)
    • All teams attend the office on Thursdays
    • Flexibility required in line with responsibilities as a corporate parent
