This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an Audit Partner / Responsible Individual (RI) to join a well-established and forward-thinking accountancy firm in Stoke-on-Trent.

You’ll take ownership of a significant audit portfolio, provide leadership across the audit function and contribute at board and strategic level.

The Role

As Audit Partner / RI, you’ll combine technical leadership with commercial and strategic responsibility. Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as Responsible Individual on a portfolio of statutory audit clients.
  • Leading and signing off audit engagements, ensuring compliance with regulatory and professional standards.
  • Managing and developing senior client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser.
  • Providing technical leadership and oversight across the audit department.
  • Supporting and mentoring Audit Managers, Senior Managers and the wider audit team.
  • Playing a key role in shaping audit strategy, quality control and process improvement.
  • Contributing to business development, tendering and client acquisition activity.
  • Working closely with fellow Partners and Directors on firm-wide strategy and growth.
  • Supporting recruitment, succession planning and long-term development of the audit team.
  • Ensuring the firm maintains high standards of governance, independence and audit quality.

About You

You’ll be an accomplished audit professional with strong leadership presence and commercial awareness. You will:

  • Be ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Hold Responsible Individual (RI) status.
  • Have extensive experience leading statutory audits within a UK accountancy practice.
  • Be confident managing complex audits and senior client relationships.
  • Possess strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP / FRS 102 and auditing standards.
  • Have proven experience leading and developing high-performing audit teams.
  • Be commercially minded, with the ability to contribute to firm-wide strategy and growth.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, leadership and relationship-building skills.
  • Be motivated to take on a Partner-level role with long-term commitment.
