This is an excellent opportunity for an Audit Assistant Manager to join a well-established accountancy practice in Bideford. You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality audit services, managing day-to-day client relationships and supporting the development of the audit team.

The Role

As Audit Assistant Manager, you’ll work closely with managers and partners while taking ownership of audit engagements and supervising fieldwork teams. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading audit fieldwork from planning through to completion on assigned engagements.
  • Assisting with audit planning, risk assessments and audit strategies.
  • Reviewing audit working papers and supporting documentation.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients during audit assignments.
  • Supervising, mentoring and supporting Audit Seniors, Semi Seniors and trainees.
  • Monitoring deadlines and ensuring audit work is delivered accurately and on time.
  • Identifying audit issues and escalating matters appropriately.
  • Assisting with the preparation and review of statutory accounts where required.
  • Supporting managers with workflow planning, resourcing and client queries.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of audit processes and methodology.

This role offers a strong balance of technical delivery, client interaction and leadership development.

About You

You’ll be a capable and motivated audit professional ready to step into a leadership-focused role. You will:

  • Be ACA or ACCA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience.
  • Have strong external audit experience within a UK accountancy practice.
  • Be confident leading audit fieldwork and supervising junior staff.
  • Possess solid technical knowledge of auditing standards and FRS 102.
  • Have good communication skills and a professional client-facing approach.
  • Be organised, proactive and comfortable managing multiple assignments.
  • Enjoy mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to team development.
  • Be keen to progress toward Audit Manager level over time.
