You’ll lead the audit function, manage an experienced team, and play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the firm’s audit and assurance services.

The Role

As Audit Director (RI), you’ll take responsibility for overseeing the delivery of high-quality audit and assurance services across a diverse client base, including SMEs, charities, and corporate groups. You’ll lead on technical excellence, staff development, and client engagement, while working closely with Partners on strategic growth initiatives.

  • Acting as RI on a portfolio of audits, ensuring compliance with ISAs and professional standards
  • Leading and reviewing audit assignments from planning through to final sign-off
  • Providing technical guidance on complex accounting and auditing matters
  • Managing a portfolio of key clients, maintaining trusted long-term relationships
  • Developing and mentoring audit managers and seniors, fostering a culture of quality and growth
  • Supporting Partners with strategic planning, business development, and tender processes
  • Driving continuous improvement across the audit department and supporting firmwide initiatives

About You

You’re a technically strong and commercially aware audit professional with a passion for leadership, quality, and client service. You will:

  • Be ACA or ACCA qualified with Responsible Individual (RI) status (essential)
  • Have significant post-qualification experience in leading complex audits within a UK practice
  • Demonstrate excellent technical knowledge of FRS 102 and UK auditing standards
  • Possess strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with experience managing multi-level teams
  • Be confident managing senior client relationships and advising on strategic matters
  • Show commercial awareness, excellent communication skills, and sound judgement
  • Be ambitious and motivated to progress towards Partner level within a forward-looking firm
