The Role
As Assistant Tax Manager, you’ll support senior colleagues while managing your own diverse portfolio of personal and corporate tax clients. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and reviewing personal and corporate tax returns
- Managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring compliance deadlines are met
- Assisting with complex advisory projects including CGT, IHT, restructuring, and remuneration planning
- Conducting technical research and preparing advisory reports
- Liaising directly with clients, building strong professional relationships
- Handling HMRC enquiries and correspondence
- Overseeing and supporting the work of junior team members
- Contributing to improvements in tax processes and internal efficiencies
About You
You’ll be a motivated tax professional with a strong technical foundation and a desire to progress. You will:
- Be CTA qualified or studying, or ACA/ACCA with strong tax experience
- Have experience working in a tax role within a UK accountancy practice
- Possess solid technical knowledge of personal and/or corporate tax
- Be confident managing your own clients and meeting deadlines
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Communicate clearly and professionally with both clients and colleagues
- Be eager to progress to Tax Manager level, with ongoing training provided
