You’ll play a leading role in managing a diverse audit portfolio, developing client relationships, and shaping the strategic direction of the firm’s audit and assurance offering across the North West.

The Role

As Audit Director, you’ll lead the delivery of high-quality audit services, managing complex client assignments and ensuring technical excellence across the department. You’ll work closely with Partners to drive business growth, mentor a talented team, and uphold the firm’s reputation for exceptional client service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing multiple audit engagements, from planning through to completion
  • Acting as the main point of contact for key audit clients, providing tailored advice and insight
  • Overseeing audit quality and ensuring compliance with ISAs, UK GAAP, and ethical standards
  • Managing, mentoring, and developing senior audit staff to ensure technical excellence
  • Collaborating with Partners and other senior leaders to grow the firm’s audit portfolio
  • Playing an active role in business development and tendering for new audit opportunities
  • Reviewing audit methodologies and contributing to the firm’s technical and quality framework
  • Ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Staying up to date with developments in audit regulation and financial reporting standards

About You

You’ll be a technically strong, commercially minded, and people-focused professional with a passion for leadership and client service. You will:

  • Be ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience
  • Have extensive experience managing audits within an accountancy practice
  • Be confident leading audit teams and overseeing large, complex engagements
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge of UK audit standards and financial reporting
  • Possess excellent communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills
  • Be commercially aware, identifying opportunities to add value to client relationships
  • Have experience in managing and mentoring staff, fostering growth and engagement
  • Be proactive, strategic, and comfortable operating at a senior leadership level
  • Experience working with a broad range of clients — from SMEs and owner-managed businesses to larger corporate groups — will be highly regarded.
