You’ll take responsibility for a diverse portfolio of personal tax clients, from business owners and company directors to high-net-worth individuals, managing both compliance and advisory work.
The Role
As Private Client Tax Senior, you’ll manage the delivery of personal tax services to a range of clients, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional client care. You’ll work closely with managers and directors to provide high-quality compliance and planning advice, while supporting the development of junior staff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and reviewing self-assessment tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and trusts
- Managing the annual personal tax compliance process for your client portfolio
- Providing advice on personal tax issues including income tax, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax
- Supporting advisory and planning projects such as succession planning, family wealth structuring, and residence/domicile matters
- Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients and managing enquiries
- Building strong relationships with clients and acting as a trusted point of contact
- Keeping up to date with tax legislation and sharing insights with the wider team
- Supervising and mentoring junior team members to help them develop their technical skills
About You
You’ll be a proactive, technically strong tax professional who enjoys client interaction and continuous learning. You will:
- Be ATT qualified as a minimum, ideally CTA qualified or studying towards qualification.
- Have at least 2 years’ experience in a personal tax role within an accountancy practice.
- Possess strong technical knowledge of personal tax compliance and UK legislation.
- Be confident managing your own portfolio and liaising directly with clients.
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Have clear communication skills and the ability to explain complex tax matters in plain language.
- Be organised, self-motivated, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in inheritance tax, capital gains tax, or trusts would be advantageous.
