This is an outstanding opportunity for an Audit Director to join a successful and growing firm in Leeds. You’ll take ownership of a significant audit portfolio, lead client relationships, and play a key role in driving the strategic growth of the firm’s audit and assurance offering.

The Role

As Audit Director, you’ll be responsible for overseeing audit delivery across a diverse range of clients, ensuring technical excellence and service quality. Working closely with Partners, you’ll lead a talented team and help shape the strategic direction of the audit department. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing multiple audit assignments, from planning through to completion
  • Acting as the primary contact for key clients, providing exceptional service and advice
  • Overseeing technical audit reviews, ensuring compliance with ISAs, UK GAAP, and regulatory standards
  • Supporting the continued development of the audit methodology and internal quality processes
  • Managing, mentoring, and developing a team of audit professionals to achieve their full potential
  • Collaborating with Partners and other Directors to grow the firm’s audit client base
  • Playing a key role in business development and tendering for new audit engagements
  • Contributing to strategic decision-making, budgeting, and team resourcing
  • Keeping up to date with technical and regulatory developments in auditing and financial reporting

About You

You’ll be a technically strong, commercially astute, and people-focused professional who thrives in a leadership role. You will:

  • Be ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Have extensive experience managing large audits within an accountancy practice
  • Be confident leading client relationships and engaging with senior stakeholders
  • Possess strong technical knowledge of audit and assurance standards
  • Have a proven track record of team leadership, coaching, and people development
  • Be proactive in identifying opportunities to improve processes and drive growth
  • Have excellent communication, presentation, and project management skills
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness and the ability to balance client service with business goals

Experience working with clients across a range of sectors — including owner-managed businesses, SMEs, and corporate groups — would be advantageous.
