The Role
As a Senior Accountant, you’ll take full ownership of your own client portfolio, managing all aspects of accounting and tax compliance while building trusted client relationships. You’ll oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, management accounts, and tax computations, as well as mentor junior staff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
- Reviewing management accounts and tax computations prepared by the team
- Providing commercial advice and recommendations to clients
- Managing client relationships and resolving queries efficiently
- Ensuring all assignments are completed accurately and on time
- Supporting process improvement and embracing cloud accounting technologies
- Coaching and developing junior members of the accounts team
About You
You’ll be a proactive and detail-focused accounting professional who enjoys variety and thrives in a client-facing role. You will:
- Be ACA or ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience)
- Have at least three years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice
- Possess a strong understanding of UK accounting standards, corporation tax, and VAT
- Be confident preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and financial statements
- Have excellent communication and relationship-management skills
- Be organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple clients simultaneously
- Be experienced with Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar cloud accounting software
