This is an excellent opportunity for a Client Manager to join a respected and expanding accountancy firm based in Burton-on-Trent.
You’ll play a key role in managing a portfolio of clients, overseeing workflow, and delivering a high-quality service across accounts, tax, and advisory functions.
The RoleAs Client Manager, you’ll manage your own diverse portfolio of clients and act as their primary point of contact, ensuring that all accounting, tax, and compliance needs are met to a high standard. You’ll also support and develop your team while working closely with senior management on strategic client planning.
Key responsibilities include:- Managing a varied portfolio of limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
- Reviewing year-end accounts, corporation tax computations, and VAT returns
- Overseeing the work of junior and semi-senior accountants, providing feedback and support
- Acting as the main contact for clients, offering proactive financial and business advice
- Reviewing management accounts and helping clients interpret financial data
- Identifying opportunities for added value and tax planning initiatives
- Liaising with HMRC and other professional contacts
- Supporting partners with business development and contributing to firm growth
- Ensuring compliance with deadlines and maintaining strong client satisfaction
You’ll be a technically strong accountant with excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence to lead client relationships. You will:
- Be ACCA or ACA qualified (or qualified by experience)
- Have several years of experience working in an accountancy practice
- Possess strong technical knowledge of accounting and tax principles
- Be comfortable managing a portfolio and reviewing others’ work
- Have experience mentoring and developing junior staff
- Be proactive, organised, and able to prioritise effectively
- Demonstrate commercial awareness and a client-focused approach
- Be confident using modern accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage
