The Pelican, a part of the Public House group, is a welcoming and vibrant pub offering exceptional dining and drinking experience with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We take pride in serving high quality food and beverages, while delivering outstanding customer service.

Salary: up to 45,000 base salary + service charge (circa 15,000 per annum)

What you'll be doing as a Sous Chef:

  • Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in running a smooth and efficient kitchen.
  • Help lead, train, and mentor junior team members.
  • Ensure high standards of health and safety, food quality, hygiene, and consistency.
  • Contribute ideas for seasonal menus and daily specials.
  • Be hands-on, working across different sections during busy service periods.

About you, our new Sous Chef:

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous Chef in a fast-paced, high-quality environment.
  • A passion for sustainability, seasonality, and a keen eye for detail and presentation.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • The ability to work under pressure and deliver exceptional results during busy service.
  • A team player who can guide and lead junior team members with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • A desire to learn and progress within the industry.
  • Flexible approach to work.
