Main duties of the job:
- Applicants will need to be educated to Masters level or possess a higher specialist diploma.
- Candidates must demonstrate well‑developed interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to lead and support individual and team working.
- The successful candidate will supervise a defined section of the laboratory, undertake aspects of diagnostic laboratory work and support the Operational Manager to advance key service and workforce objectives.
- The laboratory operates a 7 day, 24 hr service and working patterns will include shifts covering core days, evenings and weekends on a rotational basis.
Qualifications:
- Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent acceptable to HCPC for registration.
- Fellow of the IBMS, Master of Science or equivalent post‑degree qualifications or equivalent relevant experience.
- Evidence of registration with the Health Care Professions Council.
- The ability to speak Welsh is desirable, but is not essential; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Experience:
- History of working in Diagnostic Microbiology.
- Evidence of supervisory management experience with work and people.
- Evidence of staff rostering, appraisal and performance management.
Personal Skills / Capability:
- Evidence of technical capabilities (personal portfolio, continual professional development, competence record).
