Public Health Wales Microbiology is seeking a Biomedical Scientist to join its Bacteriology Team at Glangwili Hospital. The role supports the delivery of a 24/7 diagnostic service that operates across the Welsh Microbiology Network.
Responsibilities
- Use scientific knowledge and practical skills to contribute to a robust and fully operational laboratory system.
- Assist in building a strong team and support Senior Biomedical Scientists in driving continuous improvement across the department and the Network.
- Support the provision of a 24/7 service in accordance with a published rota.
- Apply good laboratory practice and ISO15189 quality management principles.
- Collaborate with colleagues to provide rapid diagnostic services using state‑of‑the‑art equipment.
Qualifications
- Enthusiastic, well‑motivated and innovative with strong organisational and practical abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work individually and in teams.
- Flexible, self‑motivated and possessing good practical skills.
- Scientific knowledge relevant to biomedical science and microbiology.
- Knowledge or experience of ISO15189 and laboratory quality systems is desirable.
