Being flexible, self-motivated and with good practical skills will be fundamental to your role. You will use your knowledge and skills as a Biomedical Scientist to contribute to a robust and fully operational system within the department. You will assist in building a strong team and support the Senior Biomedical Scientists to enable continual improvements in the department and throughout the Microbiology Network. An understanding of good laboratory practice and ISO15189 quality management is desirable. The post holder will support the provision of a 24/7 service in accordance with a published rota.
Responsibilities
- Support the provision of a 24/7 service in accordance with a published rota.
- Contribute to building a strong team and support the Senior Biomedical Scientists to enable continual improvements in the department and throughout the Microbiology Network.
- Apply knowledge and skills as a Biomedical Scientist to contribute to a robust and fully operational system within the department.
- Assist in maintaining good laboratory practice and ISO15189 quality management where applicable.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Good organisational and practical abilities with science knowledge.
- Well developed interpersonal and communication skills; ability to support individual and team working.
- Flexibility, self-motivation and good practical skills.
- Desirable: understanding of good laboratory practice and ISO15189 quality management.
- Desirable: ability to speak Welsh (English and/or Welsh speakers are welcome to apply).

To demonstrate our commitment and dedication of our staff we offer automatic progression to Band 6 on the successful completion of their IBMS Specialist Diploma (Medical Microbiology /Bacteriology) with 100% compliance of statutory and mandatory training and relevant competency documents. The successful post holders will be fully supported, with full training given from our training team. You will be encouraged to develop and opportunities will be given to enhance your career.
