The work will be wide ranging and impactful, supporting the programme's mission to improve outcomes, experience, safety, and flow across the whole urgent and emergency care system in Wales. The team provides high-quality health intelligence to inform national priorities across all Six Goals, including preventing unnecessary emergency attendances, optimising urgent, same day and pre-hospital services, improving our Emergency Departments, delivering efficient hospital care, and supporting timely discharge and community pathways.

This role will have primary responsibility for delivering analytical insight that supports the programme's strategic and operational priorities, working closely with clinical, operational, and strategic partners across Wales. The postholder will also contribute to the broader Health Intelligence and Data /Analytical functions, supporting cross-cutting analytical needs and responding to emerging priorities within the wider urgent and emergency care system.

Main duties of the job

This role will provide high-quality data, analysis, and insight to give decision-makers timely intelligence to improve patient experience, safety, flow, and outcomes across the UEC system. We are seeking someone experienced in an analytical or information environment, who is highly motivated, enthusiastic and driven to deliver the right intelligence at the right time for partners across the UEC pathway.

You will contribute to a fast-paced programme for system-wide improvement, supporting delivery of Ministerial priorities across UEC, from reducing avoidable demand and improving urgent and same-day responses, to optimising flow and timely discharge. You will require strong skills in analytical and statistical techniques, data visualisation, communication, and stakeholder engagement to deliver high-profile analytical projects supporting service transformation.

You may be given responsibility for developing specialist expertise in key UEC datasets, analytical methods, programming languages, or business intelligence tools, enabling the Six Goals Programme to maximise the value of national and local data. You will play a key role in shaping high-quality intelligence that informs national policy, operational delivery, and improvement workstreams across the Six Goals Programme.
