This leadership role offers the opportunity for an experienced and dynamic AHP to join Public Health Wales. This All Wales leadership role is integral to delivering the AHP Framework ambition to transform and improve AHP services in Wales.

This is a system leadership role requiring specialist in-depth professional knowledge in relevant clinical practice and a robust understanding of the political environment to achieve change at local, national and international level.

The postholder will have strategic links to a wide range of stakeholders across the Health and Social Care system in Wales, working with and influencing senior stakeholders in Welsh Government, NHS P&I, professional and managerial leads across the NHS.

The role provides national professional leadership for AHPs leading the transformation of practice from a Public Health & Prevention perspective, supporting the delivery of: ‘A Healthier Wales’; the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act; Public Health Wales Long Term Strategy 2023-2035; the Social Services and Wellbeing Act, the AHP Framework in Wales – ‘Looking Forward Together’; ‘AHPs in Public Health UK Strategic Framework’ (2019 – 2024) for Wales` and ‘Our Workforce Strategy for Health and Social Care’.

Lead the transformation and improvement of the AHP offer in Public Health / Prevention in the health and social care system in Wales.

Contribute to a highly complex national programme approach to enhance the quality of services provided by AHPs aligning with other national bodies, programmes and networks across the NHS Executive, social care and PHW including: Strategic Programme for Primary Care; Strategic Programme for Mental Health; Strategic Programme for Mental Health; National Planned Care Programme; National Strategic Clinical Networks.

Working across organisational and professional boundaries to collaborate and lead on the development of an appropriately skilled AHP Public Health workforce, designing, developing, planning, delivering and evaluating national training programmes as a core part of the role; raising the profile and role identity of the AHP public health workforce.

Contribute to national policy and strategy that impact on population health and prevention, integrating AHPs into national programmes to fully implement ‘A Healthier Wales’.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and /or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
