Trainee Machine Operators / CNC Machine Operators

IDSL – Integrated Doorset Solutions Ltd

Location: Mansfield area
Pay: Up to £13.20 per hour + overtime
Hours: Monday to Friday, 2:15pm–10:15pm
Contract: Permanent, full-time, 40 hours per week

Full training. A permanent job. A team to build your future with.

You don’t need to know how to operate a CNC machine to join us. Bring basic IT skills, reliability and a willingness to learn, and we’ll provide the training and support to help you succeed.

At IDSL, you’ll learn to set and operate the machinery used to manufacture fire doors. As your confidence grows, we’ll teach you to edit machine programmes and, over time, create manufacturing programmes for our CNC machines.

This is a chance to learn valuable technical skills in a permanent role with one of the UK’s largest fire door manufacturers. With three manufacturing plants across the Mansfield area, ambitious growth plans and the backing of PTSG, there’s room to build a long-term future with us.

Good people make a great place to work

Learning something new is easier when you have the right people around you. You’ll join a friendly team of colleagues who share their knowledge, help you find your feet and take pride in what they make.

We want people to join us and stay. That means proper training, time to build your confidence and support as you develop. You won’t be expected to know everything on day one — we’re looking for someone enthusiastic and reliable who wants to become a valued member of the team.

This could be your first step into manufacturing, followed by developing your CNC programming skills and taking on more responsibility as opportunities arise.

A fixed afternoon shift that works for you

These are permanent afternoon shifts: Monday to Friday, 2:15pm–10:15pm.

If afternoons suit your routine or personal commitments, this could be a great fit. You’ll have a regular working pattern, with opportunities for weekend overtime to increase your earnings.

What you’ll be doing

With training and support from the team, you’ll:

  • Learn to set up, operate and adjust manufacturing machinery.

  • Develop your CNC skills, from editing existing programmes to creating new ones.

  • Check finished products for quality and accuracy.

  • Spot and report machine faults or production issues.

  • Work with colleagues to meet production requirements safely and efficiently.

  • Keep your work area clean, organised and safe.

You’ll be making products that help protect people and buildings, so care and attention to detail matter.

What we’re looking for

No previous machine operating or CNC knowledge is needed. We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has reasonable IT skills and is comfortable using computers.

  • Is reliable, enthusiastic and quick to learn.

  • Enjoys practical work and takes pride in doing a good job.

  • Follows instructions carefully and works safely.

  • Can reliably get to work for the fixed afternoon shift.

  • Understands that this is a permanent afternoon role.

What you’ll get

  • Pay of up to £13.20 per hour.

  • Weekend overtime paid at 1.3 times your basic hourly rate, subject to business requirements.

  • 20 days’ annual leave plus 8 bank holidays.

  • Full training, including a pathway towards CNC programming.

  • Ongoing support and opportunities to progress as the business grows.

  • Employee discount scheme.

  • A friendly, supportive team and a permanent role with long-term prospects.
