We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Commercial Lead to be responsible for growth initiatives within our Data Centre services. This role is pivotal in identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and driving revenue through consultative selling of data centre solutions including design, migration, optimisation, and sustainability strategies.

The focus of the role will be working with other PTS Delivery Team members to support our clients and address challenges with their project portfolios. This will include a diverse range of engagements across a wide range of sectors. Our services are delivered in line with recognised industry best practice and contracted service levels.

As a Commercial Lead, your general duties shall include but are not limited to:

  • Market Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the data centre sector across enterprise, hyperscale, and colocation markets, developing a sales pipeline.
  • Client Engagement: Build, develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including CIOs, IT Directors, and Facilities Managers.
  • Consultative Selling: Understand client needs and propose tailored data centre solutions including site selection, energy efficiency, cooling strategies, and risk mitigation.
  • Proposal, Pricing & Bid Management: Lead the development of proposals, RFP responses, pricing and presentations in collaboration with technical and wider commercial team.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with technology vendors, engineering firms, and real estate partners to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes to inform strategy and positioning. Attend local and international events, exhibitions and conferences.
  • Revenue Growth: Achieve and exceed sales targets through proactive pipeline management and deal closure.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities of improvement in the commercial function.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate capabilities in some/all of the following areas:

  • Familiarity with Uptime Institute standards, ASHRAE guidelines, and Tier certifications.
  • Knowledge of cloud migration strategies and hybrid infrastructure models.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into commercial value propositions.
  • Proven track record in business development or sales within the data centre, IT infrastructure, or technical consultancy sectors.
  • Strong understanding of data centre operations, design principles, and sustainability challenges.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with CRM systems and sales reporting tools.
  • Degree in Business, Engineering, IT, or related field (preferred).

  • Confident: You will have to function as an interface between the delivery team and potential client staff at all levels.
  • Engaging: You may be required to present ideas, strategies, and reports to senior level staff.
