Overview of the Role
Working as part a collaborative commercial team, as Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving business growth. Duties will vary on a day-to-day basis, but typical responsibilities include:
- Creating a sales pipeline – identifying market opportunities through meetings, networking, and other channels.
- Forecasting sales targets and growth projections.
- Meeting existing and potential clients and building positive relationships.
- Preparing sales presentations and participating in sales meetings.
- Liaising with colleagues to develop cohesive sales and marketing collateral in line with the overall business strategy.
- Attending local and international events, exhibitions and conferences.
- Producing reports for the team and management.
- Account Management of existing clients and development of new global relationships.
Responsibilities
Research and identify new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products, and services – or new ways of reaching existing markets.
Seek out the appropriate contact in an organisation.
Meet with customers/clients face to face or over the phone.
Foster and develop relationships with customers/clients.
Understand the needs of your customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these.
Think strategically – seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives to develop and improve the business.
Work strategically – carrying out necessary planning to implement commercial outputs of the wider business strategy
Have a good understanding of the PTS services and be able to advise others about them.
Liaise with the marketing department on promotional activities.
Identify opportunities of improvement in the commercial function.
Attend seminars, conferences, and networking events where appropriate.
Keep abreast of trends and changes in the data centre market as well as the wider commercial market.
Lead all new opportunities in the data centre market from a commercial perspective, including working closely with and supporting the bid team, briefing and liaising with consultants, ownership of tender interview process.:
