Job Description
Established in 1860, Holroyd stands as a leader in the field of precision engineering. With a rich history spanning over 160 years, we have consistently been at the forefront of machine tool and component manufacturing. Are you a skilled Maintenance Engineer with experience fixing CNC machines and heavy equipment? We are hiring, and we’d like you to join our team.As the Maintenance Fitter, you will play a key role in ensuring our machines and equipment are well maintained and able to keep pace with production. Your responsibilities will encompass responding to CNC machine (turning, milling and grinding) breakdowns, conducting fault-finding and executing repairs. To be successful you must have knowledge in fault finding and repairing CNC machinery covering mechanical (bearing/motors/belts), hydraulics, pneumatics, controls, and electrical systems. Workpattern: ( earlies & days)Week 1: Mon – Thurs 05:45-14:05, Fri 05:45-11:45Week 2: Mon – Thurs 09:35-18:00, Fri 08:00-13:40Responsibilities:
- Swift response to machine breakdowns, including efficient fault finding and repairs,
- Ordering of replacement parts using MRP system,
- Timely completion of planned maintenance as per schedules, with meticulous record-keeping,
- Check and calibrate instruments and equipment,
- Maintenance of handheld equipment and general facilities,Â
- Organisation and site management of sub-contractors,
- Update departmental records (using excel and MRP system) .
Requirements:
- Excellent mechanical skills with a bias to CNC machinery (metal cutting), (electrical would be advantageous),
- Recognised mechanical or electrical qualification (apprenticeship, BTEC, City & Guilds NVQ level) or time-served equivalent.Â
- Proven experience in reactive maintenance and repairs of CNC and manual machines
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to maintaining productivity,Â
- Proficient at reading engineering drawings and schematics,Â
- Able to work efficiently under pressure, manage a varied workload, and adapt to changing demands,
- Flexible to undertake facility maintenance/repair tasks when required,
- Self-motivated and initiative-driven, and effective both independently and collaboratively,Â
- Knowledgeable about safe work practices and Health and Safety legislation
- Able to maintain records using excel, previous use of an MRP system a strong advantage.
