What you’ll do

  • Working with the Operations Division of the Planning, Development and Public Works Department, you will assist with truck and heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Equipment Repair: Assist mechanics with day-to-day fleet maintenance activities including minor repairs, welding, oil changes, and parts inventory.
  • Shop Maintenance: Involved in keeping the shop and work areas clean and organized, fueling vehicles and equipment, picking up and delivering parts and supplies.
  • Labour: Assist the Public Works staff with road maintenance labour tasks such as flagging and weed eating as required.

In accordance with County Policy, a Criminal Record Check that is acceptable to the County will be required as a condition of employment.

This job is for you if…

  • You are a current student in a Heavy Equipment or Automotive Technician course and are either returning to school in the fall or graduating in 2026.
  • You have a valid Ontario G2 (or higher) driver’s license, a clean driver’s abstract, and are comfortable operating a light-duty pick-up truck.
  • You have, or are willing to purchase, CSA-approved footwear before the start date.

Experience: You know your way around a shop environment and understand that safety in these settings is a top priority. You have experience working with small hand tools and light-duty lawn equipment.

You have a knack for clear communication and are dedicated to providing top-notch service to both internal and external customers.
