Our client is a large, global manufacturing organisation operating within a fast-paced, high-volume production environment. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a mechanically biased Mechanical Engineer to strengthen their site-based engineering team in Carlisle. The Role
- Maintaining and improving the reliability and performance of production machinery and site equipment.
- Working as part of a multi-skilled engineering team to support continuous production while driving high engineering and safety standards.
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive mechanical maintenance.
- Mechanical fault finding and breakdown repair on manufacturing equipment.
- Working on conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, motors, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Supporting continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with site H&S standards.
- Contributing to root cause analysis and reduction of repeat failures.
- Liaising with production teams to minimise downtime.
The Person
- Hands-on, mechanically biased engineer who thrives in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
- Time-served apprenticeship or recognised mechanical engineering qualification.
- Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding background.
- Experience within a manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial environment.
- Comfortable working rotating shifts.
- Proactive, reliable, and team-focused approach.
Desirable
- Basic electrical knowledge (not essential).
- Experience with continuous improvement or TPM environments.
