Working Pattern: Hybrid (site-based with 1 day remote working available)

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major civil engineering and build project in Suffolk. This is a key commercial role, reporting into the Commercial Manager, with responsibility for delivering successful commercial outcomes across a defined section of the project.

This opportunity would suit someone with strong technical and commercial expertise, who is confident working autonomously while contributing to a collaborative project environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead commercial delivery across assigned work packages or project sections
  • Support and mentor junior team members
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Develop and manage procurement schedules
  • Prepare tender documentation, assess returns, and award subcontracts
  • Ensure full scope coverage through gap analysis
  • Drive continuous improvement across the supply chain
  • Manage project cash flow through valuations and invoicing
  • Handle variations, claims, and final accounts
  • Produce CVRs, forecasts, and financial reports
  • Monitor resource use to ensure cost efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements
  • Maintain and manage risk and opportunity registers
  • Provide commercial input into planning and programming
  • Support project mobilisation and close-out
  • Provide commercial and contractual guidance to the wider team
About You
  • Proven experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor role within civil engineering, infrastructure, or construction
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC or similar contract forms
  • Excellent commercial awareness and forecasting ability
  • Able to work independently and lead effectively
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Collaborative and solutions-focused approach
