A senior leadership opportunity for someone who knows how to run large, complex social housing operations and steady the ship while driving long-term growth.
This role takes full ownership of a Residential / Social Housing management unit with a £30m+ portfolio (c. £22m forecast next year). The focus is on stabilising performance after a challenging period, integrating previously split operations, and building a sustainable pipeline of long-term local authority and council work.
You’ll be leading from the front — setting direction, owning commercial outcomes, and being fully accountable for safety, quality, delivery, client relationships, and profitability.
The role:
- Lead and integrate a Residential unit, bringing together former North & South operations into one high-performing team
- Full P&L responsibility across a significant social housing portfolio
- Stabilise operational delivery across safety, quality, programme, and cost
- Own commercial performance: forecasting, margin control, risk & opportunity management
- Drive sustainable growth through long-term local authority and council contracts
- Line manage senior leaders (Senior PMs / Ops Managers and a Commercial Lead)
- Act as the senior point of contact for clients, partners, and stakeholders
- Ensure strong HSEQ performance and continuous improvement
- Travel across the UK as required (mainly South East & Midlands)
What you’ll need:
- Proven senior management experience within social housing
- Track record of running large portfolios of works with full operational and commercial accountability
- Strong leadership style — able to stabilise, motivate, and build high-performing teams
- Commercially sharp: forecasting, margin management, and contract compliance
- Experience winning work, growing client relationships, and scaling teams sustainably
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel
Qualifications & compliance:
- SMSTS & CSCS (mandatory)
- Relevant HSEQ training
- MCIOB and/or relevant degree desirable (experience is the priority)
