We are recruiting for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial delivery of a major highways infrastructure scheme in the Midlands. This project includes £5m of Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and £44m of construction works as part of a key bus, walk, and cycle corridor programme.
This is a senior leadership role, responsible for managing commercial performance from pre-construction through to delivery, while leading a commercial team and ensuring successful project outcomes.
This opportunity would suit someone with strong NEC contract experience, particularly Option C with ECI, who is confident managing teams and driving commercial strategy on complex infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Commercial Management & Leadership
- Lead and manage all commercial aspects of the project lifecycle
- Provide leadership and direction to the commercial team
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Drive commercial strategy and ensure successful project delivery
- Procurement & Supply Chain
- Oversee subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and management
- Ensure effective supply chain engagement and performance
- Support delivery of procurement strategies aligned to project objectives
- Cost Control & Reporting
- Manage cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Ensure accurate valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Monitor financial performance and drive cost efficiency across the project
- Contracts, Risk & Change Management
- Administer NEC contracts, specifically Option C with ECI
- Manage PSC contracts where required
- Lead risk management and value engineering initiatives
- Ensure contractual compliance and robust change management processes
- Project Lifecycle Support
- Lead the project through pre-construction and into delivery
- Ensure accurate commercial processes and record-keeping throughout
- Provide strategic commercial input to the wider project team
- Proven experience as a Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or infrastructure
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts, particularly Option C with ECI
- Experience managing PSC contracts
- Excellent commercial awareness, reporting, and analytical skills
- Ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
