A leading force in the world of Electrical Solutions is currently expanding and is looking for an Applications Engineer to join them in their Switchgear manufacturing team. A global business, they offer a range of services, including the manufacturing of AC/DC Solutions, transformers, substation equipment and others. They’re also responsible for the design, construction, and commissioning of HV electrical infrastructure within the UK Network, with over 200 HV projects, through their engineering services business. They’re incredibly well known in the Electrical Engineering world for their innovative and industry leading switchgear products, and this is an exciting chance for an Engineer to progress their career.

What will you be doing?

  • Technical specification and compliance: Determine equipment ratings and performance requirements from tender specifications, ensure supplied equipment meets customer switchgear specifications and operational requirements (current, voltage, fault ratings), and issue detailed engineering specifications for design, manufacturing, and procurement teams.
  • Design and coordination: Design complex relay protection and substation control schemes, create internal software schemes, issue purchase order requisitions via ERP system, and liaise directly with customers and the commercial department on all technical contract matters.
  • Training and continuous improvement: Coach and train staff in technical areas, assist with manufacturing quality investigations and non-conformance reports, support continuous improvement initiatives, and provide technical assistance to the test department and project implementation.

What experience do you need?

  • Understanding of Engineering drawings and manufacturing processes.
  • Electrical Engineering background (HNC or HND ideally).
  • Understanding of CTs/Relay protection.
