Are you looking to play an instrumental role in maintaining the engineering excellence of one of South East London's most complex acute hospital estates? How about a role where your technical authority directly shapes the safety, compliance, and long-term resilience of critical healthcare infrastructure serving thousands of patients every day?
In this role you will act as the voice of engineering reason on a major healthcare PFI contract, providing technical leadership across lifecycle replacement programmes, reviewing and challenging contractor designs and specifications, and ensuring every engineering decision meets the highest standards of HTM compliance and best practice.
Salary: £80,000 to £85,000 plus car allowance of £4,700.
What impact will you make?
- Technical Engineering Authority: providing assurance across mechanical, electrical, and building fabric disciplines on a live acute hospital estate.
- Lifecycle Leadership: reviewing and approving contractor designs, scopes, and technical submissions to ensure compliance, quality, and value for money.
- Risk and Compliance: identifying and mitigating technical risk across safety-critical systems while ensuring full statutory and HTM compliance.
- Strategic Collaboration: working closely with FM leads, project teams, and NHS Trust stakeholders to ensure lifecycle works are delivered with minimal operational disruption.
What experience do you need?
- Significant experience in healthcare FM or a critical environment engineering role with genuine working knowledge of HTM standards.
- Strong M&E or Building Services engineering background with the ability to review, interpret, and challenge technical designs and specifications.
- Membership of a professional body such as CIBSE, IET, IHEEM, or IWFM is essential, with HNC, HND, or equivalent engineering qualification required.
- Experience of PFI or PPP healthcare contracts and knowledge of NHS HTM and HBN guidance would be a strong advantage.
