Some electrical design jobs are about specifying lights and sockets for another office fit-out. This is a rare chance to join the UK arm of one of Europe's largest energy and engineering groups, doing the heavy lifting behind the country's transition to net zero. We're talking large-scale retrofit projects across hospitals, universities, commercial estates, and industrial sites — taking ageing infrastructure and dragging it into a low-carbon future. Heat pumps, CHP, energy centres, on-site generation, the lot.
If you've spent the last few years drawing distribution boards for category B fit-outs and quietly hoping for something with more meat, this is it. They're investing heavily in the North, the team is growing, and they need a senior electrical design engineer who can own designs from concept through to handover and stand up in front of clients to talk through them with confidence.
- Producing full electrical designs across LV (and some MV) for live operational sites, from outline concept through to detailed design and installation.
- Working with the audit team to turn energy-saving opportunities into genuinely buildable designs that don't take the building offline.
- Designing the electrical side of energy centres, heat pump installations, CHP schemes, solar PV, standby generation and DNO connections.
- Reviewing consultant and contractor designs, leading client conversations, and keeping projects on programme and on budget.
- A strong background in electrical design.
- Comfort across LV distribution, layouts, single line diagrams, cable and load calculations.
- The ability to talk technical with clients and contractors without losing them.
- MEP modelling exposure (Revit MEP a real plus).
- Bonus points for any hands-on experience with heat pumps, CHP, or energy centre design.
