I’m currently recruiting a Senior Environmental Advisor for a major infrastructure partner delivering a project of National Importance. This is a heavyweight, nationally significant project, a 180km high-voltage transmission route that’s a massive part of the UK’s transition to a carbon-neutral grid.

What sets this role apart is the sheer scale and the 'why it matters' factor. You’re not just managing a site; you’re enabling the flow of renewable offshore wind energy from the North Sea to the rest of the UK. It’s a 70km greenfield corridor involving complex foundation work, archaeological investigations, and sensitive ecological mitigation through the East of England.

The Role

You’ll take full environmental ownership of a multi-disciplinary corridor as it moves from pre-construction toward energisation in 2032. You’ll be the bridge between designers, planners, and the client team. Your job is to ensure that DCO compliance and environmental performance aren’t just met, but driven as best practice across a project that is under intense national and local scrutiny.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Owning the Environmental Management Plan and ensuring legal and ISO 14001 requirements actually work on the ground across a 70km stretch.
  • Overseeing noise, dust, water, and waste monitoring, while navigating the nuances of archaeological works and ground investigations.
  • Building real relationships with landowners and the client team, challenging requirements constructively to ensure mitigation measures are practical.
  • Managing incidents and inspections with a no-nonsense, proactive approach to site operations.

The Essentials

  • Technical Foundation: A degree in a technical field (Environmental, Ecology, Geology, or Civils) and a solid understanding of construction environments and temporary works.
  • Proven Track Record: At least 5 years of experience in environmental management on major infrastructure, utilities, or energy projects.
  • Mobility: A full UK driving licence is essential, this role requires constant movement across the 70km corridor.

The Specifics

  • Location: Currently Bury St Edmunds, moving to Diss shortly.
  • Salary: £51,000 – £56,000 + car or car allowance.
