A well-established fit-out and M&E contractor based in West Yorkshire is looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing design team. They are the principal contractor for Asda and Tesco, deliver all the M&E for M&S, and have long-standing relationships with a roster of household-name UK retailers.
You will be working on the electrical design across a portfolio of live retail fit-out, refurbishment, and asset replacement projects, covering the usual lighting, small power, LV distribution, and fire alarm scope. The business has a steady pipeline of repeat work rather than one-off projects, so the design team can actually plan ahead rather than firefighting from one job to the next.
What youβll be doing:
- Leading electrical design from concept through to construction across lighting, small power, LV distribution, and fire alarm systems for retail and commercial fit-out schemes.
- Producing design calculations, schematics, and Revit models, working closely with the mechanical design team and the wider project delivery function.
- Coordinating with consultants, sub-contractors, and on-site teams to ensure the design is buildable, commercially sound, and delivered to programme.
What weβre after:
- A solid background in electrical building services design, with the usual lighting, small power, and LV scope.
- Working knowledge of BS7671 (18th Edition), CIBSE guides, and current Building Regs, with software exposure to Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Amtech, and Dialux or Relux.
- Experience in fit-out, main contractor, or consultancy environments, with a genuine interest in the retail sector and the pace that comes with it.
Why itβs worth a look:
The business is principal contractor and M&E specialist for some of the biggest names on the UK high street, so youβll be working on schemes for clients you actually recognise. The team is properly resourced, the pipeline is strong, and thereβs a clear progression path for engineers who want to develop technically or move toward design management down the line. Hybrid working, competitive salary genuinely negotiable for the right person, and a full package on top.
