Are you an experienced Construction/Pre-Construction Manager with a background in engineering? Looking to join a rapidly-growing contractor in a truly autonomous role? PT Renewables is supporting their long-standing client in the South West on their look for a Pre-Construction Manager. This is a senior role, reporting directly to the directors, sitting at the heart of the business and playing a key part in how they price, pursue, and win new work.

The Role

  • You'll take the lead on all pre-construction activity, owning the tender process end-to-end and working closely with the Director to assess, price, and submit bids across a varied project portfolio.
  • Managing the full tender process from initial enquiry through to submission.
  • Writing and coordinating bid and PQQ responses.
  • Assessing the technical viability of opportunities and identifying any buildability or design concerns.
  • Carrying out and reviewing mechanical take-offs from drawings and specifications.
  • Providing technical input into pricing and submission documents.
  • Ensuring a clear handover of pre-construction information to the delivery team.
  • Keeping an accurate record of tender activity, pipeline, and outcomes.
  • Feeding into go/no-go decisions with early-stage cost and programme input.
  • Reporting regularly to the Director on bid status and commercial matters.

About you

  • You'll need a solid mechanical engineering background and hands-on experience in pre-construction or estimating within the M&E sector.
  • Competent in mechanical take-offs with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specs.
  • Experience reviewing and responding to contract documentation.
  • Able to manage multiple tenders at once and work to firm deadlines.

It would also be useful if you have:

  • An HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject.
  • Experience with estimating or bid management software.
  • Knowledge of public sector or framework procurement.
