We are looking for a Solar PV Designer to support the end-to-end design of rooftop and ground-mount solar projects, ensuring technically sound, compliant, and commercially viable solutions. The role works closely with sales, engineering, and installation teams to turn customer requirements into detailed system designs and drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce solar PV designs, layouts, and string configurations for domestic and commercial projects using industry design software.
- Complete generation estimates, system sizing, shading analysis, and equipment selection (modules, inverters, mounting systems, batteries where applicable).
- Prepare technical drawings, single-line diagrams, and design documentation for internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, DNO requirements, planning constraints, and health and safety guidelines.
- Support the sales team with technical input for proposals and quotations, optimising designs for performance and cost.
- Liaise with project managers and installers to resolve design queries and provide as-built updates where required.
Skills & Experience
- Experience designing solar PV systems (domestic and/or commercial) within the UK market.
- Proficient with PV design tools (e.g. PV*Sol, PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar) and confident using AutoCAD or equivalent.
- Good understanding of electrical principles, DNO/G99 requirements, and relevant wiring regulations.
- Strong attention to detail, good documentation skills, and the ability to work to deadlines across multiple projects.
- Relevant electrical/renewables qualification or engineering background is desirable.
