Are you an Engineer with an Electrical background that has a natural curiosity of how things work and how to improve them? I have an exciting opportunity that has arisen for a Product Development Engineer to join a well-established, growing manufacturer and distributor of electrical products.
The Role:
The Product Development Engineer will be a key part of the technical team, responsible for developing innovative electrical products in partnership with manufacturing sites. This role will focus on defining product specifications, managing compliance with British and European standards, coordinating testing processes, and supporting continuous product improvement. The successful candidate will also lead the creation of technical documentation and packaging requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage new electrical product projects in collaboration with manufacturing partners.
- Establish product specifications, create technical briefs, and assess sample quality.
- Coordinate external testing and investigate technical issues during development.
- Define packaging, labelling, and instruction manual requirements.
- Support the Quality Team in reporting and resolving product issues.
- Ensure product compliance with relevant safety standards and directives (BS EN, EMC, REACH, RoHS).
- Maintain up-to-date technical support documentation, including WEEE and packaging data.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, with an electrical or electronic focus.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, product standards, and quality assurance.
- Knowledge of electrical product applications and installation practices.
