A forward-thinking engineering organisation specialising in sustainable energy solutions is looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team. With a strong reputation in delivering innovative energy projects—including CHP, energy storage, hydrogen, wind, solar, and gas-powered generation—this company is playing a key role in the global transition to net zero.

Operating at the forefront of engineering excellence, the business offers end-to-end energy solutions, supported by in-house design teams and comprehensive after-sales support. This is an exciting opportunity to join a company where innovation, employee development, and ethical practices are genuinely valued.

The Role

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for developing electrical designs for energy generation and combined heat and power (CHP) systems. You’ll work across the full project lifecycle—from concept and sales support through to commissioning—translating complex requirements into robust and compliant electrical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop electrical design packages to meet functional and contractual requirements.
  • Carry out a variety of power system studies (e.g. Load Flow, Fault Analysis, G99, P28, G5/5).
  • Support the sales and tendering process with technical input and documentation.
  • Collaborate with mechanical design engineers and CAD technicians.
  • Support project managers through commissioning and testing phases.
  • Participate in HAZOP and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality policies.

About You

You’ll have a background in electrical engineering with experience in power generation, ideally including CHP or renewable technologies. You’ll be confident working independently, as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and have a proactive approach to innovation and problem-solving.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree (or HNC/HND with significant experience) in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 2 years’ industry experience, ideally in power generation (1–25MW).
  • Strong knowledge of LV and MV power systems and associated control/instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Full UK/EU driving licence and the right to work in the UK.

The Benefits

  • Competitive salary + car allowance
  • 25 days holiday (+ options to buy/sell additional days)
  • Company pension scheme
  • Healthcare cash plan & life assurance
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Hybrid working model
  • Ongoing training & career development
  • A culture that values innovation, integrity, and teamwork

If you’re ready to play a pivotal role in the energy transition and be part of a supportive, ambitious team—this is the opportunity for you.
