Location: Leeds (UK & Europe Travel)

We are working with a well-established engineering business who are looking for a Service Engineer to join their field services team supporting power and distribution transformers. This is a field-based role covering the UK and Europe, involving fault finding, maintenance, repair and testing of HV electrical equipment in operational site environments.

The Role

  • Attend customer sites to inspect, diagnose and repair faults on power transformers and associated HV systems.
  • Work is varied and often reactive, requiring strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend site to diagnose and repair transformer faults.
  • Carry out mechanical and electrical fault finding and maintenance.
  • Investigate issues such as oil leaks, electrical faults and component failures.
  • Support testing activities (IR, HV withstand, functional checks).
  • Replace and repair components including relays, gaskets, cooling systems and accessories.
  • Complete detailed service reports, RAMS and job documentation.
  • Work independently on customer sites when required.
  • Travel across the UK and Europe as part of the role.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Background in electrical site engineering, HV systems, transformers, substation maintenance or similar field-based engineering work.
  • Strong fault-finding experience in mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
  • Experience working in site-based engineering environments.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety and RAMS.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
  • Transformer commissioning or HV testing experience.
  • Substation or utility maintenance background.
  • Experience with insulation resistance (IR) or HV testing.
  • Lifting, slinging, crane or FLT certifications.

Competitive salary (DOE) 33 days holiday.
