The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day leadership of a team of 11 Engineers, spread across multiple sites. This role blends hands-on support with strategic oversight and proactive maintenance planning through a modern CMMS system. You’ll typically visit up to two sites per week (travel supported with a company van), helping drive consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement across all engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support Engineers, ensuring tasks and maintenance schedules are completed efficiently and on time
  • Use CMMS to plan, monitor, and manage preventative and reactive maintenance tasks
  • Oversee the spare parts inventory across sites, ensuring availability and cost efficiency
  • Work cross-functionally with Operations and Compliance teams to support production and site uptime
  • Ensure contractor management, permits to work, and H&S standards are followed at all times
  • Provide insight and reporting through KPI tracking and data analysis to identify improvement opportunities
  • Act as a key contact for site engineering matters, highlighting issues and collaborating on solutions

What We’re Looking For:

  • NVQ Level 3 / HNC / HND in Engineering or equivalent
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams, ideally across multiple sites
  • Background in food production, FMCG, or automated warehousing/distribution is essential
  • Strong knowledge of CMMS/planned maintenance systems
  • Confident with H&S, food safety, and legal compliance standards
  • Skilled in forward planning, KPI reporting, and team development
  • Refrigeration and temperature control knowledge is a distinct advantage

What You’ll Get:

  • £55,000 – £60,000 annual salary (depending on experience)
  • Monday to Friday working pattern
  • Company van provided for site travel
  • Life insurance & salary protection insurance
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities to support your career growth
