An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Shift Engineer to join a specialist power generation facility in Indian Queens.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical or Mechanical Engineer from a manufacturing, industrial, process or engineering background looking to move into the power industry.

Power station or HV experience is not essential – full training will be provided, including development towards HV Authorisation and Senior Authorised Person responsibilities up to 400kV.

The Role

Working as part of a small engineering team, the Shift Engineer will operate and maintain the power station safely and efficiently, working on a predominantly lone-working basis.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operating the plant in line with site and contractual requirements
  • Planned and reactive maintenance
  • Electrical and mechanical fault finding
  • Isolations and safety-to-work documentation
  • Developing towards LV/HV switching and authorisation
  • Supporting electrical operations from 6.6kV to 400kV
  • Liaising with contractors and suppliers
  • Supporting the wider shift team

Shift Pattern

A rotating pattern covering days, evenings and nights, with regular periods of time off:

  • Days: 07:00–14:00
  • Evenings: 14:00–22:00
  • Nights: 22:00–07:00

About You

The business is open to engineers from a range of backgrounds. Candidates should have:

  • Electrical or Mechanical engineering experience
  • Experience within manufacturing, industrial, process or similar environments
  • Planned/reactive maintenance and fault-finding experience
  • A willingness to learn and develop within the power industry
  • Good Health & Safety awareness

HV, power generation and permit-to-work experience is advantageous but not essential. Full training will be provided.
