The Contracts Manager will play a pivotal role in the development and management of strategic commissioning and contracting initiatives across both public and private sectors. This role is key to promoting Psychiatry-UK’s services, expanding its market presence, and enhancing stakeholder understanding of the organisation’s current capabilities and future potential in the psychiatric care landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Contract Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of contracts, ensuring effective and efficient contract management practices are in place.
- Full compliance with relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Systematic recording, reporting, and dissemination of insights to drive continuous business improvement.
- Expert advice and guidance on non-contractual activities, particularly in relation to the Right to Choose programme.
This is a home-based role (applicants must reside in the UK), though occasional travel may be required for face-to-face meetings at various locations within the UK.
As our Contracts Manager, you will:
- Lead the development and management of key commissioning and contracting activities across both public and private sectors.
- Ensure contracts are accurate and compliant with NHS contracting guidance and procurement regulations.
- Manage contract delivery in collaboration with internal teams and external partners by leading effective and regular contract review meetings.
- Oversee the monitoring and reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Manage the execution, variation, performance, and closure of contracts.
- Collaborate with Psychiatry-UK (PUK) teams to ensure delivery against KPIs and commissioned service specifications.
- Share insights and lessons learned to support the ongoing development of PUK’s service offerings.
- Support the preparation and submission of high-quality tenders for new business opportunities.
- Work with the Information Governance team to ensure Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) are accurate and up to date.
- Collaborate with the Finance team to ensure financial alignment across contracts, recommending improvements to maximise value for money throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with commissioners, other purchasers, and internal stakeholders.
- Engage across multi-functional teams to integrate diverse perspectives, fostering collaboration and shared understanding of performance and service delivery.
To succeed as our Contracts Manager, you will be:
- Self-motivated and able to manage your workload independently, demonstrating excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills.
- An effective communicator, both written and verbal, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels inside and outside Psychiatry-UK.
- Detail-oriented, maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
- Able to work well under pressure, think innovatively, solve problems with a strategic mindset, and negotiate effectively.
- Comfortable analysing and presenting complex information in both written and oral formats.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Degree-level education or equivalent, or a professional qualification in contract management, procurement, or strategic commissioning.
- In-depth knowledge of NHS contracts and associated regulations, including recent updates in procurement legislation.
- Proven experience managing bids, tenders, and contracts in the healthcare sector, ideally with experience in NHS-funded private provision.
- Demonstrated success in contract management, with the ability to understand the needs and perspectives of both commissioners and providers.
- Proficiency in using online contract management and/or procurement systems.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Post Graduate Professional qualification (or equivalent) in contract management, procurement, business administration or strategic commissioning.
- Interest and/or experience in Neurodiversity and in Mental Health online services delivery to improve people’s lives.
- An understanding of the changes in commissioning landscape and the political nature of the wider NHS and Social Care system.
- Proven experience of working in partnership, using the contract to successfully improve services.
- Experience using Sharepoint.
- Understanding of CQC standards.
