Psychiatric Report Ltd is an established medico-legal psychiatric expert service, founded in 2012, providing independent psychiatric evidence for legal proceedings across England and Wales. We are expanding our expert panel and invite expressions of interest from Consultant Psychiatrists who undertake, or wish to undertake, medico-legal work.

The Role

You will be instructed to prepare independent psychiatric expert reports for use in legal proceedings, in accordance with applicable procedural rules, including CPR Part 35 where relevant. All work is undertaken on an expert-witness basis, with an overriding duty to the court or tribunal.

Scope of Work

Depending on expertise, instructions may arise across civil, tribunal, family, and criminal jurisdictions, including matters involving psychiatric injury, capacity, employment, and related medico-legal issues.

  • Appropriate specialist registration where required
  • Strong understanding of expert independence and professional duties
  • Ability to produce clear, well-reasoned, court-ready written opinions
  • Professional, reliable, and methodical in approach
  • Prior medico-legal experience is welcomed but not essential for suitably experienced consultants
