Support Worker required for a residential home supporting children and young people. The role involves providing day-to-day care, promoting independence, supporting positive outcomes, and ensuring safeguarding and wellbeing at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, caring support to children and young people in a residential setting
  • Assist with daily living activities, routines, and emotional support
  • Promote safety, wellbeing, and positive behaviour through person-centred support
  • Support with education, interests, and engagement in age-appropriate activities
  • Encourage independence and life skills development (e.g., budgeting, communication, daily routines)
  • Maintain accurate records and written reports in line with organisational requirements
  • Work collaboratively with staff teams and professionals involved in care planning
  • Support sleep-in duties and shift coverage where required
  • Follow safeguarding procedures, risk assessments, and incident reporting processes
  • Uphold confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with children and young people in a residential or similar care environment
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and behaviours that support safety
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to build trusting relationships with young people
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when managing challenging situations

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Experience supporting children and young people with complex needs
  • Knowledge of care planning, behaviour support approaches, and positive outcomes
  • First Aid training (or willingness to obtain)
  • Familiarity with recording systems and care documentation

Working Pattern

  • Shift-based role, including weekends and potentially sleep-in duties (as required)
